The Boat That Rocked/Pirate Radio

Do yourselves a massive favour and watch this movie… quite simply the best damned thing i have seen in a long long loooooooooooooooooooooong time… it makes me wish that Titanic ( the james cameron one) had a different ending!

The story is set in the sixties when the brit rock and pop revolution was at its prime, but BBC played only 45 minutes of pop music… considering that kind of music to be immoral and almost pornographic.A pirate ship anchored in the north sea played rock and pop music 24 hrs of the day. angering the minister ( the brilliant kenneth barrnagh) in charge of such matters who vows to crush them in a voice quite similar to the John Hurt’s as adam sutler in V for vendetta… eerily similar …

The casting is Brilliant and reads like a who’s who of the best of both worlds… bill nighy , philip seymour hoffman, Rhys Ifans , January jones for one beautiful moment in a negligee ( wink wink) and the irrepressible Emma thompson..

Directed by Richard Curtis of such previous gems as Notting Hill, Bridget Jones diaries and Love actually this might just be his best work yet… and quite a mountain for even himself to surpass…

the movie features one of THE most definitive soundtracks ever… not less than a week ago I saw Ang Lee’s Taking Woodstock and the one thing that didn’t work for me was the music or the lack there of! but fear not this has music… OH THIS HAS MUSIC!

watch it hear it and if you are not left with the biggest smile on your face then you need to get yourself checked!

AMAZING!

Philip Seymour Hoffman you sir are a god!
